Judy Maple Foundation Surpasses $200,000 in Charitable Donations

2021 was an important year for the Judy Maple Foundation, and not just because we were excited to gather with friends and family at our annual golf outing after a 2020 hiatus.

We are pleased to announce that with the help of our dedicated supporters, the Judy Maple Foundation has crossed a huge milestone in our charitable donations. After 17 years of giving back to the community, the Judy Maple Foundation has surpassed $200,000 in charitable donations, totaling more than $203,500 as of September 2021.

Community Charities and Organizations

Many of our donations have been in the form of gifts to local nonprofits and organizations doing work to better their communities, which was something Judy was always passionate about. In addition to the privilege of donating to these groups, we are also delighted that representatives from many of our beneficiaries have been able to attend our annual golf outings, meet with our supporters about their missions, and spread the word of the good work they do.

These groups include the New Albany Special Olympics, the Arthur IV Dennis Fund, Bridge Street Home Health & Hospice, St. Jude Hospital, United Way, West Michigan Therapy Dogs, the Wounded Warrior Project, Abigail's Angels, the PCVI Society, Hearts Full of Hope, the Richmond, Ohio Lions' Club, Angels in the Outfield, JC's Journey, Bread & Roses Soup Kitchen, the Josh Merriman Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Valley Hospice, Inc., the Tony Teramana Cancer Center, the Jefferson County 4th St. Health Center, Women in Action Against Cancer, the American Cancer Society, Nationwide Children's Hospital, Donna's Angels, the City Rescue Mission of Steubenville, the Urban Mission of Steubenville, and the Pleasant Hill PTO Fire Victim Fund.

Emergency Donations

We know all too well what it is like to be a family dealing with hospital visits or a tragedy that has struck when least expected. The Judy Maple Foundation is grateful to have had the ability to send monetary donations to various local families over the years in the event of natural disasters, illness, death, injury, or any other kind of hardship.

Edison Local High School Scholarships

Those who knew Judy know that she was always a friendly face around Edison Local Schools. She cared for not only her own children who attended the district, but also for all of their friends and every student she saw while working as a cook in the cafeteria. One of the Judy Maple Foundation's first goals was to set up a scholarship for Edison students in her name. To date, we have awarded 15 Edison Local High School seniors a total of $33,500 in scholarship money.

How You Have Helped

The Judy Maple Foundation could not have passed this incredible milestone in donations without the help of everyone who supports us. Each time you contribute, whether that means purchasing a ticket to our golf outing, sending a paper check, reserving a flower in Judy’s Garden, buying raffle tickets, or sponsoring a part of our event, you are helping us build funds that both support our operations and filter straight back into the communities we care about.

For a full list of sponsors, please see our 2021 golf outing webpage.

Just as important as the monetary support we are so thankful for is the dedicated work of our tireless volunteers. If you have ever sat behind the counter at golf registration, sold raffle tickets on a chilly early morning, transported door prizes, served a meal at the golf course, taken and printed team photos, worked the hole-in-one station in sticky summer heat, or contributed in any other way, we thank you. Our volunteers are what make each year’s golf outing a success, and we truly could not pull it off without them.

The Judy Maple Foundation would also like to thank the staff at Spring Hills Golf Club, who have become dear friends we truly look forward to seeing every year. The Judy Maple Golf Classic would not be the same without them, and we are lucky to have their golf course as the perfect home for our event.

As always, we deeply appreciate your continued support.
